A third-year student from Tanaka's seminar won the Excellence Award (2nd place overall) at the "Sports Business Contest 2023" sponsored by Maishima Project.

This project is led by the professional baseball teams Osaka Evessa, Orix Buffaloes and Cerezo Osaka, and aims to promote sports and develop the sports industry, as well as revitalize Maishima and increase its urban appeal.

This was Osaka Sangyo University 's third time participating in the sports business contest, but it was the first time that they received an award.

The students applied the "oshikatsu" method, which has been recognized as an effective way of increasing customer numbers in the idol business, to professional sports. They implemented a system they had planned to encourage visitors to "oshikatsu" at the actual game venue, and worked to promote new memberships to fan clubs.

On the final day, the participants also had the valuable experience of making a presentation to former B.League chairman, Masaaki Okawa.

Department of Commercial Sciences is deepening its ties with the local community and supporting the growth of students by providing them with unique experiences.
