On Monday, March 20th, Osaka Sangyo University Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School and Undergraduate Degree Conferral and Graduation Ceremonies for the 2022 academic year were held, 44 Osaka Sangyo University Graduate School and 1,698 undergraduate students graduated.
In his speech, President Yoshikawa stated,
"For many of you, after enrolling in April 2019, the era changed to Reiwa in May and you began your studies at our university at the dawn of a new era. However, less than a year later, the COVID-19 pandemic finally made face-to-face classes the rule this academic year. However, at a time when we wanted you to enjoy your student life the most, we were forced to reduce the opportunities for you to come to campus, and many classes became online or hybrid, which I imagine caused many confusion.
However, despite all these restrictions, today is proof that you have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in your studies, and I am well aware that you have also worked hard and achieved results in extracurricular activities under significant restrictions.Furthermore, looking at your faces today, I am convinced that you have accumulated valuable experiences, such as meeting and interacting with various friends, and have grown as people.
As you embark on your journey into society, I hope that you will not be "swallowed up" by the rapid changes in society, but will instead maintain a broad perspective, think flexibly, and further hone your problem-solving skills, thereby making significant contributions to society.
However, as you have all spent your student lives in a school atmosphere based on the founding spirit of "Be great ordinary people," you have not blindly pursued utilitarianism and lived with a narrow-minded view of life and the world. Rather, I believe that you have become people who feel that in your daily work, in what is, your ordinary daily lives, you are fulfilling a mission to contribute to human society by being involved in the development of society, and who can find meaning in this and find joy in it.
However, life is long, so there will be times when you have worries or reach a turning point in your life. At your alma mater, Osaka Sangyo University, not only will you have your former teachers and classmates, but the alumni association members of whom you will become members from today will join you as your trusted supporters. We hope that you will treasure these connections with people just as much as you did the connections you made during your time at university.
